HCA & CSW Program Virtual Presentation Job Recruitment

In the month of June 2021, the Bayshore Home Health & Axis Family Resources Ltd. hosted the online recruiting careers fair with our Health Care Assistant Program & Community Support Worker Program students here at First College Kelowna campus.

What is a Health Care Assistant?

In British Columbia the term Health Care Assistant (HCA) is used to describe a variety of workers including, but not limited to, the following titles: Community Health Worker, Care Aide, Long-Term Care Attendant, Nurse’s Aide, Assisted Living Worker, Home Support Worker and Personal Support Worker.

These frontline care providers are an integral and valued part of a multi-disciplinary team that work in a variety of practice settings including home support, assisted living, long-term care, special care units, acute care and other home and community settings.

What is a Community Support Worker?

The Community Support Worker (also known and referred to as CSWs) role is very diverse and very dynamic! CSWs assist clients who are dealing with persistent multiple barriers, social and economic challenges, addiction, abuse, chronic health conditions, grief and loss, and many other issues and needs that arise from everyday living. The value that community support workers bring to the interdisciplinary community-based service programs, is evidenced by the ever-increasing demand for graduated Community Support Workers in the human services field.
