Interior Health Virtual Presentation Job Recruitment

On Wednesday September 30, 2020, Interior Health hosted an online recruiting careers fair with our Health Care Assistant students here at First College Kelowna campus.

Sandra Hohmann, External Recruiter and Cassandra Ritchie, Recruiter presented the job opportunities and the benefits available working for Interior Health.

Interior Health is a regional health authority in British Columbia. It is one of the five publicly-funded regional health authorities, serving the southern Interior region of British Columbia.

Interior Health provides a wide range of integrated health-care programs and services, many of their services are offered in the hospitals they operate, they also offer a wide variety of other important services including: Home and Community Care; Long-term Care and much more.

What is a Health Care Assistant?

In British Columbia the term Health Care Assistant (HCA) is used to describe a variety of workers including, but not limited to, the following titles: Community Health Worker, Care Aide, Long-Term Care Attendant, Nurse’s Aide, Assisted Living Worker, Home Support Worker and Personal Support Worker.

These frontline care providers are an integral and valued part of a multi-disciplinary team that work in a variety of practice settings including home support, assisted living, long-term care, special care units, acute care and other home and community settings.

As an educational institution, First College has helped hundreds of students from the Okanagan Valley achieve their training and career goals as a Health Care Assistant.

Our faculty of Health Coordinator, Denise Bryson frequently liaises with both Interior Health and the private sector to accommodate our students with the best clinical experience during the program. We are grateful for the support of our practice settings and glad to be part of the community.
